Gold Price Is At Right Time To Buy

SINGAPORE, Feb 24(Reuters) - Spot gold prices held steady
just below a seven-week high on Thursday, as violence in Libya
continued to buoy safe-haven demand in bullion and high oil
prices, triggering inflation fears, also lent support.
As many as 1,000 people may have been killed in the unrest.
On Wednesday, thousands celebrated as the east broke free of the
control of Mummar Gaddafi, who has vowed to crush the revolt.

"People don't have much confidence that the Libya crisis
will be settled any time soon, so a lot of them are betting on
gold," said a dealer in Singapore, "Gold will be the king."
Crude oil prices hit a 2-1/2-year high on mounting fears
that unrest in Libya could spread to other major Middle East
producers, including top exporter Saudi Arabia.
Soaring oil prices raised concerns of higher inflation and
slower economic growth globally, which might also lead to some
gold buying.
Spot gold was little changed at $1,411.42 an ounce by
0308 GMT, off the seven-week high of $1,416.30 hit in the
previous session.
U.S. gold futures edged down 0.1 percent at
$1,412.30.
Spot gold will test the Jan. 3 high at $1,423.57 per
ounce, based on its wave pattern and a Fibonacci projection
analysis, said Reuters market analyst Wang Tao.
For a 24-hrs gold technical outlook:

"There is no reason why we can't break through the recent
high around $1,416 and head towards $1,420 if the unrest
continues in Libya," said Darren Heathcote, head of trading at
Investec Australia.
"Of course if it spreads even further in field or becomes
more violent, gold will benefit further as a safe haven."
Scrap sellers have taken advantage of current high price
levels to cash in, while fresh buying was limited, dealers said.
Spot gold rose in seven out of past nine sessions, up nearly
eight percent since it hit a four-month low of $1,308 on Jan 28.
"Prices are getting more dear, and some may take the
opportunity to sell then wait for the next dip to buy again,"
said the Singapore-based dealer.
Spot silver inched up 0.1 percent at $33.55.
Holdings in the world's largest silver-backed
exchange-traded fund, iShares Silver Trust , rose to
one-month high of 10,575.23 tonnes by Feb 23.
Silver prices are expected to stay at three-decade highs
even as new mine output of silver is forecast to rise eight
percent on the year, keeping up with growing demand, metals
consultancy GFMS said.
Spot palladium gained 0.7 percent at $782, recovering
from a six-week low of $762.85 in the previous session, as
industrial metals bounced off lows.

Decatur Jewelry & Pawn visited the 2011 SHOT Show

2011 SHOT Show-Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Back in 1979 before the first SHOT Show, organizers worried that industry professionals might not show up for the fledgling event, a story recounted in the just-released National Shooting Sports Foundation 50th Anniversary history publication. Organizers needn’t have worried then, or now, about the vitality of the SHOT Show.

The 2011 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show soared above expectations by setting records for buyer attendance at 31,769 and media attendance at 2,074.

Overall attendance of 57,390, comprising buyers, exhibitors, media and guests, ranked the show as the third largest ever behind the 2008 and 2010 events. In this sluggish economy, the SHOT Show demonstrates the resilience of one of America’s oldest industries and the popularity of its products.

“The importance of the SHOT Show to the firearms industry cannot be overestimated,” said Steve Sanetti, president and CEO of NSSF, which owns the trade show. “The SHOT Show is simply the must-attend business event for all segments of our industry. Based on what we’re hearing, industry has every reason to think that 2011 shows promise of being another strong year.”

Filling the Sands Expo and Convention Center to capacity with 1,600 exhibiting companies covering 630,000 net square feet with their booths, SHOT Show brings together all facets of the $4 billion industry. Many companies use SHOT Show, the largest trade show of its kind in the world, to announce new products and services. Buyers and media members are able to handle and discuss products that include firearms, ammunition, outdoor and tactical clothing, optics, knives, related accessories and law enforcement equipment.

A number of changes were made to exhibition halls to make navigating the huge show easier, including widened aisles, better signage and a new escalator. Those changes received widespread positive responses. “There was much better traffic flow,” said exhibitor George Trulock, whose choke tube company booth was set up on the lower floor. “The changes that were made worked.”

Comments from exhibitors and buyers confirmed that the 33rd SHOT Show was a success.

Bob Morrison, president and CEO of Taurus, captured the mood with his comments in a local television interview: “We are having terrific growth right in the middle of this recession, and I’m delighted to be in this business.”

Other industry professionals were just as upbeat about both the show and their prospects for the year.

Lea L. Ramthun of Beretta said, “Busy is the word. Dealers are excited about our new products. We’ve seen a lot of smiling, happy faces.”

Paul Pluff of Smith & Wesson said, “The show has been an extremely positive event, very busy—almost busier than I have ever seen it. We anticipate a great year due to a very successful SHOT Show.”

Samuel Glen of Weather Stone Ltd. said, “I’m the guy who puts the guns in the movie stars’ hands. I have to see what’s new, and this SHOT Show has been really great for that. Everything has been really smooth and set up so that it has been easy to get my work done.”

Laurie Aronson, president and CEO of Lipsey’s, a distributor, said, “Lipsey’s is going full speed at this show. We’ve heard nothing but positive comments from retailers who are telling us they are busy.”

Randall Pence, of Sturm, Ruger, said, “Traffic in our booth has been super. Our Scout rifle has been of big interest, and our LC9 pistol has been the hit of our booth. We’re sensing a very positive attitude from everyone.”

Chris Schwarzkopf of ArmaLite Inc., said, “New products are the retailers’ main focus. We’ve seen a lot more traffic in our booth than we expected, and we added some excitement in our booth with a simulator made by Cubic.”

Blake Mecham of Browning said, “Foot traffic is up, attendance is great, we’ve had good buzz about our products and our 1911-22 was the hit of the show for us. This SHOT Show has put us in a good position for the year.”

Retailers like Ron Mengel of San Juan Shooting Range in Montrose, Colo., say that attending the SHOT Show is a must. “I come to the show to stay current, to see people in industry and to get ideas about new ways to retail. We live in an out-of-the-way area, so finding these quality products can be a challenge.” Internet-based retailer John Riddle of Outdoor Elements added, “Companies are really evolving and thinking outside the box, which is tremendous to keep the sport going. It’s enjoyable to see the innovations that are out there.”

More than 100 countries were represented at the show. Steve Collings of New Zealand-based Steve’s Wholesale said, “We import a lot of ammunition and gunpowder, so it’s very important to come and talk to my suppliers, to find new products, to get updates, to get a heads up on a change in metal prices. It’s absolutely essential to be here.”

Retailers do more than purchase products for their stores at the show. They improve their business skills at SHOT Show University, which was sold out, and at seminars where representatives from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives review regulations that apply to federally licensed retailers. For the second year, law enforcement professionals were provided with their own series of educational seminars.

With media at an all-time high, a larger press room, including a new working press area, was widely praised. Media also turned out in force at Media Day prior to the show, where they could test new models of firearms and other products.

Highlights from the show included . . .

Some 2,000 industry guests attended the NSSF State of the Industry Dinner sponsored by the Outdoor Channel at which NSSF reviewed its accomplishments over the past year. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy provided entertainment.

NSSF announced its 50th anniversary celebration and publication of “The National Shooting Sports Foundation: A History 1961 to 2011, 50 Years of Promoting, Protecting and Preserving Hunting and the Shooting Sports by NSSF, the Firearms Industry’s Trade Association.” An accompanying film, which will soon be available online, was shown at the NSSF State of the Industry Dinner.

Doug Painter, NSSF’s longest-serving employee and former president and CEO, who will retire this spring after 37 years with the Foundation, was honored for his service to the industry and the organization.

Bob Behn, 41-year industry veteran and former Marlin president and CEO, was presented the NSSF-Ken Sedlecky Achievement Award.

Michael Bane, television host, blogger and author, received the Professional Outdoor Media Association-NSSF Grits Gresham Shooting Sports Communicator Award.

The NSSF Retailer of the Year Award was given to Sportsman’s Warehouse in Rocklin, California.

The 2012 edition of the SHOT Show will be January 17-20 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

H&K P7 M13 9mm Semi Automatic Pistol. 1993 Model Year

Posted by Perry Lewin | Firearms & Hunting, Hand Guns, Used Handguns | Monday 13 December 2010 5:54 pm

SOLD!

Special On Line Price:  $2,000.00

The P7 is a German 9mm semi-automatic pistol designed by Helmut Weldle and produced by Heckler & Koch GmbHOberndorf am Neckar. It was revealed to the public for the first time in 1976 as the PSP (Polizei Selbstlade Pistole—”police self-loading pistol”)

History

The decision to equip West German police with an advanced 9mm service pistol and replace existing 7.65mm-caliber weapons was prompted after the 1972 Munich Olympics Massacre. The new firearm was to meet the following requirements: chamber the 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge, weigh no more than 1,000 g (35 oz), the pistol’s dimensions would not exceed 180 x 130 x 34 mm, it should have a muzzle energy of no less than 500 J and a service life of at least 10,000 rounds. The pistol was also to be fully ambidextrous, safe to carry with a loaded chamber and able to be quickly drawn and ready to fire instantly. As a result of a competitive bid the German police forces selected three different pistols into service: the Swiss SIG-Sauer P225 (designated the P6) and two German designs—the P7 (officially called the PSP) and the Walther P5.

Series production of the P7 started in 1979. Shortly after, the pistol was adopted by the German Federal Police’s counter-terrorism unit (GSG 9) and the German Army’s special forces formations. The P7 was produced primarily by H&K but also under license by the Greek defense firm Hellenic Arms Industry[2] as well as in Mexico by the Departamento de Industria Militar (DIM), as a sidearm for general officers and staff.[3][4] The pistol was also exported to several countries.

Design details

Operating mechanism

A schematic of the P7’s gas-delayed blowback system.

The P7 is a semi-automatic, blowback-operated firearm. It features a unique gas-delayed blowback locking system modeled on the Swiss Pistole 47 W+F (Waffenfabrik Bern) prototype pistol (and ultimately on the Barnitzke system first used in the Volkssturmgewehr 1-5), which used gas pressures from the ignited cartridge and fed them through a small port in the barrel (in front of the chamber) to retard the rearward motion of the slide. This is accomplished by means of a piston contained inside of a cylinder located under the barrel that opposes the rearward motion of the slide until the gas pressure has declined—after the bullet has left the barrel—hence allowing the slide to end its rearward motion, opening the breech and ejecting the empty cartridge case.

The chamber has 18 flutes that aid in the extraction process by allowing combustion gases to flow between the fired case and the chamber walls, preventing the case from “sticking” to the chamber walls. The drawback of this system is that the breech “opens” slightly prematurely to allow the slide to initiate its rearward motion. The high temperature gases cycling through a tube located below the chamber area and above the trigger made the early versions of this pistol uncomfortable to shoot after the content of two magazines were fired due to heating. The advantages of this system are a simpler manufacturing process due to the absence of a locking system and a high mechanical accuracy due to the barrel being fixed in the frame; the barrel does not execute any sort of lateral or vertical movement during the operating cycle as with the prolific Browning cam-action systems used extensively in other locked breech pistols.

Features

The P7’s spring extractor is contained within the slide, while the fixed ejector is a surface on the slide catch.

The pistol has an innovative trigger (with a squeeze cocking lever located at the front of the grip, beneath the trigger guard) and is striker fired. Squeezing the cocking lever with a force of 70 N (15.7 lbf) automatically cocks the firing pin. The weapon is then fired by pressing the single stage trigger rated at approximately 20 N (4.5 lbf). The squeeze cocking lever also acts as the safety and protects against accidental firing as the lever moves forward to its initial position automatically decocking the pistol when the lever is released. This method of operation dispensed the need for a manual safety selector while providing safety for the user carrying the pistol with a chambered round and increased the speed with which the pistol could be deployed and fired. The trigger and firing mechanism’s method of operation (and the unique slide catch) were protected by U.S. Patent 4,132,023, issued on January 2, 1979.

The P7 is fed from a single-stack box magazine with a capacity of 8 rounds, which is held inside the firearm’s frame with a release located at the heel of the grip. After the last round has been fired, the slide will remain open thanks to a slide catch that can be released by pulling the slide further back or pressing the squeeze cocker.

The firearm uses a fixed, polygonal barrel (hexagonal with a 250 mm twist rate) and a fixed notched iron sight with contrast dots that enable shooting in low-level lighting conditions. The pistol is completely ambidextrous and two-handed use is enhanced through the use of a profiled and enlarged trigger guard.

Between 1982–1983 the P7 received several modifications, mainly to address American market demand and shooter preferences. These modifications resulted in the P7M8 model. A new magazine release lever (available on both sides of the frame) was installed just beneath the trigger guard, which forced designers to modify both the pistol’s frame and magazine. The trigger guard was equipped with a synthetic heat shield that protects the shooter from excessive heating and a lanyard attachment loop was added in place of the previous magazine heel release. The firing pin and its bushing were also changed.

Hottie High Powered Rechargeable Stun Gun And LED Light

Posted by Perry Lewin | Defense Accessories, Firearms & Hunting | Tuesday 23 February 2010 6:12 pm

Pink 3,000,000 volts

Special Online Price $79.95

Stun guns are an excellent method of self defense. First, they can serve as a deterrent. Just test firing this unit into the air is often enough to stop an attack or aggressive activity. As the bright electric current pulsates between the test prongs it creates an intimidating electrical sight and sound. An attacker with any sense at all will stop in his tracks. If the sight and sound doesn’t stop him a jolt from this unit certainly will! Simply touching him with the device will deliver a high voltage shock causing loss of balance and muscle control, confusion, and disorientation- bringing him to his knees and making him incapable of further aggressive activity. Full recovery takes about five to ten minutes. There is no permanent harm.

The Blackout 3,000,000* is small enough to fit inside a pack of cigarettes yet powerful enough to immobilize an attacker. Its rubberized shell makes it easy to handle and grip. The unit is rechargeable (rechargeable batteries are included) with a built-in plug for easy charging. There are no cords to keep up with; simply plug into a standard wall outlet. It also has a built-in bright LED flashlight for a convenient source of light. The unit comes with a safety switch to prevent accidental discharge and an optional disable pin to prevent the stun gun from being used on the victim in case the attacker takes the device. A stylish, durable holster is included for easy carrying. The SF3000RB comes with a lifetime limited warranty. Click here for warranty details.

*Actual voltage output is difficult to measure and verify, but this unit compares to other brands that claim to be 3,000,000 or more volts.
